Harvest Time
8
I am a scarecrow standing in the field and it is my job to scare away all the birds that try to eat the crops.
Here come those birds again.
(Action: birds fly around crop and Scarecrow chases them)
That’s a job well done - they are all gone.
Now its time to gather the lovely ripe apples for our apple pie.
(Action: children form a line and pass the fruit down from the tree)
We need a very big basket to gather some more produce from the fields
Lets make a big basket now.
(action: children link arms and form a basket)
I will fill our basket with pears, grapes, lemons, oranges, walnuts, hazelnuts, pumpkins and barlet.
(action - scarecrow moving and dancing around the basket dropping imaginary
things in - as our human basket responds with each inclusion)
Our basket is so full that it is overflowing
(action - basket stands and bursts apart)
Here is the golden wheat that has been threshed
We will make bread and scones from the wheat for our harvest picnic.
THANK YOU EARTH
